NVIDIA to take aggressive actions to reduce RTX 30 pricing

Two Chinese news outlets citing their own sources from the supply chain suggest that NVIDIA RTX 30 graphics cards should get even lower prices by the end of this month.

The pricing for NVIDIA GPUs has been significantly reduced over the past few months. The reasons why is this happening are many, but it’s mainly the fact that the interest in cryptomining on GPUs has plummeted, and gamers are simply not buying as many graphics cards as they used to. This is especially concerning for NVIDIA because the company has reportedly ordered too many chips and there are simply too few customers to buy them.

NVIDIA is working with board partners to reduce the price of their cards, especially the high-end RTX 3090 series which are to be replaced in just 2 months as the company introduces RTX 40/Ada series. Promotions such as EVGA’s 3090 Ti for 1150 USD are likely to return soon, although such promotions are localized and only last for a few days.

ZOL reports that NVIDIA wants to take even more aggressive action by reducing the GPU pricing even lower than AMD, who are reportedly also planning similar actions.

According to the news from the supply chain, at the end of August, NVIDIA and AMD will take more aggressive actions to reduce the price of graphics cards, of which NVIDIA will cut prices more than AMD.

For now there are no details which cards will be price adjusted or when exactly would that happen. What is clear though is that NVIDIA has even less time than AMD, who are now targeting November for Radeon RX 7000 series launch.  Hopefully the new price adjustment will also affect RTX 3060/3070 series, which for some reasons can still be found at higher than suggested price.
